Merengue
The Merengue is the national dance of the Dominican Republic. It was introduced in the United States in the New York area.
One of the simplest of all partner dances, Merengue focuses on playful “marching” steps, gradual turns, and strong rib and hip actions. However, there are plenty of advanced steps and techniques to be learned in Merengue. Ideally suited to the small, crowded dance floors, Merengue is a dance that is easy to learn and essentially a “fun” dance.
